6.2. Perspectives for 2012
Major milestones for the next year are the success-
ful termination of the project and of the PhD the-
sis of M. Breimesser by the end of 2011 and Janu-
ary 2012, respectively, the final KORA-II report by
the end of March 2012, the production of sever-
al journal papers from the individual sub-projects,
as well as the preparation for a new PhD thesis on
SCC initiation in austenitic alloys by January 2012.
A new research project SAFE [12], which shall start
in January 2012, is in discussion with ENSI and will
involve as new key elements the emerging critical
issue of potential environmental effects on rap-
id fracture and a PhD thesis on SCC initiation in
austenitic alloys. The ongoing international activ-
ities on SCC and NDT of DMWs (JNES/FRI, PAR-
ENT) as well as on practically important and un-
explored aspects of environmental effects on fa-
tigue (EPRI EAF, NULIFE) will be other central top-
ics in this project.
